Chaos is King
It’s been a crazy week around here! The kids have been testing my patience to say the least. I had to deploy the nuclear mommy option this week because I was.so.done.
I’m not recommending going nuclear as a regular, or even good, parenting strategy, but it does work. After round 37 of clean up your freaking toys OR ELSE – the OR ELSE came to be. By the time my children had carried all their toys from the playroom into the guest bedroom, only to be earned back with good behavior, they seemed to have gotten the message.
30 minutes after nuclear mommy joined the party Olivia was bringing me glasses of water and offering to give me a back rub. #winningatparenthood?
On a more positive note
Scary Mommy is going to run one of my posts!! I am so geeking out and excited. It’s nerve-wracking sometimes to put myself “out there” in the world, but when good things come of it, it feels incredibly rewarding. Guys. I feel like I’ve won “A Major Award” and should display my leg lamp proudly.
And the kids have been turning a corner today on the behavior, so I think things are looking up!
In the midst of the chaos, I’ve read some really good blog posts this week, so without further rambling – here we go!

I seriously think I’ve been ALL of these moms at one point or another! Leave a comment below and let me know what you’re most like!
Going Potty – The Truth About Toilet Training @ Nursery Whines
After potty training two kids with varying levels of success based on the day, this one had me laughing! If you have ever thought to yourself “what the actual f*” whilst potty training – this one is for you!
Preparing for the Road Trip of our Dreams @ Minivan Adventures
April is (like me) the particularly crazy variety of mother who has embarked on a road trip of epic proportions with her children and lived to speak of it. I loved reading this post! It’s not too often I stumble across another soul brave or crazy enough to put the kids in the car and drive 5000 miles!
The Best Parenting Advice I ever Heard @ Sincerely Anchored
This is some great advice that I try hard to follow! Obviously I have moments when I turn back into an overprotective worry wort, but hey! I’m trying!
Easter Goodies I’m Into!
You guys. I was perusing Amazon late in the evening for crap we don’t need when I stumbled upon something so wonderful, I could not resist sharing. I present to you:
**** A Bag of Bunny Farts ****
Can we also just talk about how freaking adorable this little LEGO set is? I mean. I hardcore love myself some LEGO. The kids actually lost their LEGO’s (see above) and have yet to earn them back, but maybe I’ll just get this for myself. I’m the one who builds them all anyways….
Tiny Lego Carrots!!!
I’m a boring mom though, so I’ll most likely just throw them some construction paper and crayons and call it day. Ain’t my fault if the Easter Bunny is lazy!
Weekend Plans!
I’m going to get ambitious this weekend and *attempt* this recipe from Lemons + Zest! Honestly I’ll probably totally screw it up, but I’m going to try!
Carrot Cake Oatmeal Baked Doughnuts
I’m also going to attempt to get the girls out for a hike this weekend. Hopefully we can aim for something a little longer and see how Abby does. It seems like she does so much better lately when we don’t bring our Deluxe Sherpa Cadillac for her to rest in, but it’s dicey to leave it behind. Decisions!
I swear to myself that I will do meal prep this weekend! I’ve been slacking lately but time to get back on it.
What are your weekend plans?

The carrot cake donuts look so good! I’m the biggest fan of carrot cake 😀
Me too!
Hahaa ! This was me yesterday. My son was driving me absolutely crazy all day and then he left the door open so our little yorkie ran away … I had to spend an hour running around the neighborhood screaming “CHEWYYY” and clapping my hands because I can’t whistle . 😂 I had a couple drinks last night ! And congrats on your article for Scary Mommy ! That’s huge !!
I feel bad laughing but that is a hilarious visual!
That 7 mom in the indoor playground post is amazing! LOL
And those bunny farts. Oh my goodness, my kids would love those. hahaha!!
Those carrot cake oatmeal baked donuts look amazing!! I may just have to try those. 🙂
The 7 types of moms at the playground was too real! (Zombie mom here haha) Also, the crayons and construction paper have always been a hit here and my daughter is turning 5 next month!
Simple always seems to work! Crayons never fail me!
We always do construction paper, crayons and art supplies from the Easter Bunny, Santa, whoever. That stuff comes in handy!
Congratulations on your Scary Mommy post! That’s definitely news worth celebrating!
Congrats on the Scary Mommy post! That’s very exciting.
I need to buy bags of bunny farts immediately! What if they run out before I get some. I have been trying to figure out the “or else” too. I am going to have to make a plan.
Call me when the donuts are ready please!
That donut sounds amazing!! Might have to attempt making them!
Legos and crayons consumed my weekend!
Congratulations on getting on Scary Mommy! That’s great news. Keep it up, mama!
